Terminology Timeframe
As knowledge and techniques have changed, the terminology and meaning has changed from
- Traditional Disaster Recovery (in the 70s) (purely an IT term)
- Business Recovery (a recognition that business must also be recovered)
- Business Continuity (the idea that planning must be built for IT, Business, Facilities, etc. to be recovered.
- The term Business Resiliency today implies that the business must be built in a flexible, resilient manner, to adaptable to prevent and withstand disruptions.
